KINDLE DIRECT PUBLISHING BLOCKED BLAZIN' HEARTS

Two of the stories included in "Blazin' Hearts' were published in other anthologies.  Blaze retains the rights to them.  They are NOT public domain.  They are his stories.  One is in a Visionary Press Collaborative book that is no longer available.  They will not allow Blaze to remove the book from his author page, because the print book still possibly might be sold.

Irrelevant, because the story is still Blaze McRob's!

Kindle Direct Publishing is overstepping their bounds.  Depending on individual contracts between the authors and publishers, rights for stories in anthologies are retained by the authors of the stories.

Visionary Press Collaborative is defunct, the books in question are no longer available, and even if they were, Blaze retains the rights to his stories.

Yet Kindle Direct Publishing has blocked the book and threatened to terminate my account, because I publish the books for Blazing Owl Press.  Several of Blaze's books have been published in this manner.

KDP may not have to.  I may very well move every single book of mine to Smashwords or Draft2Digital.

I have spent all morning using my writing time to try and contact KDP.  The only way you can do that is via their site messaging or via email (by replying to their threatening email).

This is unacceptable.

AUTHORS BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN PUBLISHING VIA KINDLE DIRECT PUBLISHING.  THEY ARE NOT ON YOUR SIDE.

AUTHORS: BE WARY OF KINDLE DIRECT PUBLISHING

If you are an author and self-publishing through Kindle Direct Publishing, you should fully understand this:
If you list your book under Kindle Select, (gives Kindle exclusivity for 90 days) your book will automatically be enrolled in Kindle Unlimited.
Kindle Unlimited is a complete ripoff for authors.
Kindle Books charges a subscription fee to readers.  They get this money up front, and then allow readers to download author's books for free onto their Kindles.  AUTHOR RECEIVE NO MONEY UNTIL THE BOOK IS BEING READ.  AND THEN, YOU GET PAID PER PAGE READ.  Do you understand this?  Kindle gets money up front, allows your book to be downloaded, and if the book doesn't get read for two years, you don't get your money until then, and if it doesn't get read at all, you never receive your money.
Blazing Owl Press removed all of our books from Kindle Select, which means they've been removed from Kindle Unlimited as well, and we are already making more money.
Kindle Unlimited should be illegal.  Kindle is accepting money via subscriptions that they get by promising free books that they don't own.
When I first enrolled my books under Kindle Select, I thought it meant only that each book would be exclusive to Amazon for 90 days.  I also didn't realize that there was a Kindle Select automatic re-enrollment after the 90 days, which means that the exclusivity clause continues until you go into the screen for managing your account and manually turn off the auto renew.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH AMAZON AND KINDLE DIRECT PUBLISHING, AUTHORS.
THEY ARE NOT ON YOUR SIDE.
They are trying to make a buck off of you – they will encourage you to give your books away, lend your books, and price them for next to nothing.  Take a look at well-known authors who are actually making money – they do not sell their books for 99 cents.  They do not give them away.  Most of their books are not listed on Kindle Unlimited.  There's a reason for that.
Don't be so desperate to publish your work that you allow publishers to rip you off.  Learn from my mistakes.
